Guidelines and procedures

Oatley Public School general policies and procedures are summarised below. Further clarification can be obtained from the school office.

General Procedures and Policies

Regular and punctual attendance at school is a legal obligation. If your child is away, please log the absence via email or SchoolStream or call the school office (9580 5519). If your child will be away overseas or interstate, please notify the school as soon as possible.

Late Arrivals or Early Leave must be reported to the School Office. The student will receive a note to give to their teacher. If leaving early, the school needs to be notified in writing of details (reason, time and who will be collecting the student).

If your child is not attending school on the first day of the new school year, please notify the school before the end of the previous school year. This ensures that your child’s enrolment is secured and placed in the appropriate class.

The Absence 1 /Absence 2 can be downloaded to complete and send to your child’s class teacher.

If a student becomes ill or has a minor accident at school, school staff will administer first aid. If there is a further concern about the injury or illness, the school will contact the parents or emergency contacts for appropriate medical attention. Please ensure all contact details are up to date and inform the school immediately of any changes.

Children contracted with an infectious illness is advised to stay home until the contagious stage passes. This prevents the spreading of the disease and enables full recovery to the child. Oatley Public School adheres to the Department of Education and Training recommendations regarding exclusion from school in the case of infectious illness.

On enrolment, students will need to have an anaphylaxis ASCIA plan. Discuss with your child's doctor and school office for further information.

On enrolment, students will also need an asthma plan. Children with asthma are allowed to self administer their medication when appropriate.

If your child requires medication for a condition, please provide the school with a written and signed permission form of the medication, time and number of dosage. A letter from the doctor is also required stating the child's name, symptoms, dosage and appropriate medical response. The first aid guidelines will determine whether school staff can administer the medication and where to store the medicine.

Online payment is the preferred payment method. It can be found in the School Stream app. This includes a collection of payments for various purposes. Permission for these events is also on School Stream.

Oatley Public School’s Student Wellbeing Guidelines is based on the Department of Education’s Student Welfare, Good Discipline and Effective Learning Policy. We have adapted the policy to meet the contextual needs of our school.
