I have been reflecting a lot on the difficulty encountered to make what have been in the past relatively simple decisions, and all of the advice being offered through the media. As we all know, things are changing quickly, and it is important to keep the safety of the community at front of mind (especially the more vulnerable of us). No doubt we have all had cancellations of appointments, events, etc due to social distancing measures, however we should look at these as inconveniences on the path of a longer-term objective. Unfortunately school-based and P&C events have not been immune to these government-led measures.
One of the main roles of the P&C is to promote the interest of the school by bringing parents, citizens, students and teaching staff into close co-operation. I believe the next few months will have a massive effect on our feeling of connection with our school, friends and the broader community, as well as our positivity. At every opportunity please continue to engage in communication with those in the school community, albeit through different ways than what we are used to.
Our 2020 calendar of events has been heavily impacted by isolation measures. The P&C executive team and the school executive will be working together to get some community events planned as soon as it is safe to do so. At this stage it looks as though it could be late in the year before large social events are again the norm.
